Honoring Karl Zeitler was very important to his family when he passed away suddenly in 2010.  Karl was an avid sportsmen and dog lover.  Karl loved to bird hunt with his family and friends, and special dog CJ.  After he died his family wanted to honor him by coming together once a year and doing what he loved best, hunting and spending time with family.  Having one day a year that allowed everyone to remember him and all that he stood for, that is how the Karl Zeitler Memorial Hunt came to be.  Since its inception the Hunt has grown dramatically. It has become a viable charitable organization donating thousands of dollars to surrounding communities.  Marinette County was the first to receive funds allowing the Coleman Pound Rescue Squad  to purchase an off-road rescue vehicle helping reduce time to assist medical emergencies. The next donation was very exciting, what better way to honor a dog lover than to purchase a police dog that will help thousands of people over the years of its service.  That is just what the Karl Zeitler Memorial did in the spring of 2013.  Oconto County K-9 Unit received the first dog and it is now in service not only in Oconto County, but ready to assist in any of the surrounding counties.  To continue the tradition, Brown County received another dog in the fall of 2014 with funds from the Karl Zeitler Fund. The city or Marinette has received a new K-9 officer funded by the Karl Zeitler Memorial in 2015.  Oconto County in 2016. City of Marinette in 2017. Marinette County in 2018. Oconto County in 2019.  The memorial hunt took a hiatus in 2020 & 2021, but we were excited to be back in 2022 and able to donate to both Oconto and Marinette counties. In 2023 we were able to donate a dual purpose dog to the Village of Ashwaubenon.

Karl's legacy is living on with the generosity of all the people that have donated and will continue to do so in the future to the Karl Zeitler Memorial Hunt.
